Our take

A person who wants a fruit scent that feels grounded rather than playful reaches for Pomegranate Rouge. It suits someone dressing for a gallery opening or a dinner where the room is filled with wood smoke and wool coats. The wearer is not looking for a bright summer spritz. She wants something that feels composed and a little serious, a fragrance that sits close to the body and feels intentional.

Pomegranate, cassis, and raspberry give the blend a deep red color, but orris and incense pull it toward a quiet, powdery earth. Cedar, sandalwood, and oakmoss add a dry woodiness that keeps the fruit from feeling sweet. Jasmine and rose sit beside carnation and opoponax, creating a floral heart that feels warm and slightly balsamic. Aldehydes lift the top without making it sharp, and labdanum and amber give the whole composition a resinous weight that feels expensive.

The mix tries to do too much at once. With twenty notes listed, the individual details sometimes blur into a single heavy impression rather than distinct layers. The orris and oakmoss can read dusty next to the bright lemon and bergamot, creating a small clash between the fresh and the earthy. Composed by Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, it is a bold attempt that occasionally feels crowded.
