Our take

L'Eau de Chloe is built for daylight. Citron, grapefruit and bergamot open crisp and clean, aldehydes giving the citrus a soft, powdery fizz, while peach rounds the sharper edges without turning the opening syrupy or overly ripe.

The rose heart is generous, layered with rose water, violet, peony, lily-of-the-valley, freesia, magnolia and jasmine into a full, multi-layered bouquet, no single flower pushing the others aside. It stays light and slightly powdery throughout, closer to a whole garden than any single stem.

Patchouli, cedar and oakmoss bring in an earthy, slightly green base, amber and labdanum adding warmth and white musk keeping the whole thing soft. Staying power is moderate, average enough to need a touch of care, and projection settles into a modest, near presence, a fit for a desk or a lunch table more than a night out. Spring and summer are when it performs best, the citrus and rose both suited to warm air, with the aldehydes losing some of their sparkle in cold weather. It reads as a polished, easy floral, clean citrus over a soft rose that never overstays its welcome in the base.
