Our take

Thierry Bernard’s composition for Parfumeurs du Monde relies on balance rather than display. The opening pairs citron with neroli, but the beeswax in the same breath steers the citrus away from freshness and toward something round. It has the weight of a balm without becoming sticky. The heart does not push the flowers forward. Jasmine is present, but it steps back once the incense arrives, and galbanum cuts the sweetness with a green, slightly bitter edge. This is where the fragrance stops smelling like a straightforward citrus and starts behaving like resin. The base does not change the direction so much as deepen it. Myrrh and labdanum provide a dry, mineral warmth, while ginger adds a quiet lift that keeps the heavier notes from sitting flat. It suits someone who prefers a resinous, slightly smoky amber to a bright or tropical scent. It will feel too heavy for hot weather and too complex for those who like their citrus loud and simple. The sillage stays close, so it reads more intimate than outgoing, and the trail does not outlast the point where the last of the citron fades. It belongs on a gray morning or a cool evening, anywhere the air feels still and the light is low. The final impression is balsamic.
