Our take

Tonkazure opens with a pop of blueberry and a fizzy Champagne accord, tart and sparkling like a toast that’s just been poured. The black currant adds a dark, jammy edge, but within minutes the iris and rose water step in, dusting everything with a powdery, almost cosmetic veil. As it settles, the tonka bean and amber swell into a warm, creamy base, with patchouli and sandalwood grounding the sweetness into something woody and surprisingly earthy. The jasmine and neroli float through the dry down like perfume on a breeze, while musk keeps it close to the skin.

The overall character is a Champagne flute left out in a spring garden, the bubbles gone flat but the scent of spilled fruit and petals still clinging to the glass. It feels sweet and fruity upfront, then turns powdery and ambered, with a noticeable synthetic fizz in the opening that might strike some as a little candied. The longevity is moderate, around four hours, and sillage is soft, making it more of a personal pleasure than a room filler. That restraint is actually its charm.

This suits someone who wants a cheerful, playful gourmand with a floral twist, ideal for daytime brunches or a spring afternoon wandering through a farmers market. Skip it if you prefer bone-dry woods or clean aquatics, the sweetness here is unapologetic. It shines brightest in spring and summer, but its cozy amber base works for fall too.
