Our take

Rubis opens with a sharp bite of bitter almond, softened almost immediately by the warm, peppery edge of caraway. The entrance feels deliberate rather than sweet, like walking into a room where the heating has just been turned on and the air smells of baked stone fruit and spice.

The heart shifts the weight toward jasmine and tuberose, but the flowers here are heavy rather than airy. They sit close to the skin in a thick, creamy layer that leans more toward velvet curtains than a fresh garden. The almond from the top lingers and stains the petals with a nutty, almost cherry-like depth.

Vanilla and sandalwood anchor the base, with amber adding a golden, resinous glow that never turns cloying. The wood gives the sweetness a dry spine, so the composition stays grounded instead of floating away into pure dessert. It feels polished and composed, suited to a quiet evening with a glass of red wine and a heavy wool coat.

The overall impression is powdery and floral, held together by a nutty warmth that makes the almond the star from the first spray to the final trace.
