Our take

The bar is dim, lit only by the amber glow of bottles stacked behind the counter. A glass sits within reach, chilled and beaded with moisture, filled with a spirit that carries the sharp bite of juniper berries and the crisp snap of grapefruit. Cardamom and nutmeg add a warm, kitchen-like heat to the air, while coriander lends a slightly herbal, crushed-leaf edge to the first impression. It feels like a drink order that arrived exactly when the room needed it, bright and bracing against the wood-paneled walls.

As the glass rests on the coaster, the sharper edges soften. Geranium pushes through with a green, slightly floral stemmy quality that bridges the gap between the initial spice and the fruit that follows. Mango and passionfruit do not arrive with a heavy, sugary syrup sweetness. They feel sliced and fresh, their juice mingling with the remaining spice to create a tropical humidity that stays close to the skin. The carrot seeds in the base begin to hum, offering an earthy, slightly bitter root note that keeps the fruit from leaning into a candy-like direction.

Vetiver and cedar ground the scene, their dry, woody presence mixing with the lingering black pepper and patchouli to create a space that feels lived-in and textured. The musk and amber accords wrap around the sharper spices, giving the air a powdery, soft focus. Anne-Sophie Behaghel crafted a moment where the aromatic herbs and tropical slices sit together on a worn wooden bar top, the condensation from the glass pooling slowly near a bowl of whole spices.
