Fragonard by Fragonard opens with a fistful of honeysuckle, wet and honeyed, while bergamot cuts through like a blade of sunlight on dew. The jasmine and lily creep in almost immediately, not powdery or polite, but fleshy and slightly indolic, as if the flowers were bruised on your skin. The drydown turns strangely animalic, a soft musk wrapped in amber that smells more like warm skin left in the sun than any actual beast. This is the scent of a woman pressing her face into a garden trellis at dusk, breathing deep, then forgetting to wash the pollen from her wrists.
It feels natural but not photorealistic, more like a memory of flowers than the real thing. For a floral, it’s surprisingly intimate: longevity barely pushes three hours, and sillage hovers close enough to be ignored by the next seat. That’s the weakness. You get a lovely, creamy white floral with a subtle citrus sparkle that turns to a faint, almost lactonic ambery skin scent, and then it’s gone before the evening starts. It works best on a cool spring morning, worn with a linen dress and no expectations. Skip it if you need to last through a workday or command a room. But if you want a fragrance that feels like a private sigh on a sunny afternoon, this one knows its place.
