Our take

Eaux Côtières opens with a sharp, almost abrasive citrus sting that can feel thin and screechy before the rest of the composition catches up. The mandarin orange and bright citruses hit first, clean and piercing, but they lack the rounded softness that usually makes a coastal opening feel welcoming. It sits close to the skin with a sharp edge, demanding patience as the initial spray settles into something more livable.

Standing on a wooden boardwalk just above the tide line, the air carries a mix of salt and warm planks. The magnolia and jasmine begin to rise, their creamy white petals folding into the remaining citrus, while neroli adds a faint bitter green snap to the air. A light powder drifts through the scent as the sandalwood starts to show, smooth and dry, with a clean musk settling underneath the floral layer. It smells like a bright morning where the ocean is calm and the sun is already warming the railings.

The breeze shifts and brings more of the woody base forward, the sandalwood growing richer against the fading orange, the musk holding the white florals in place so they do not float away entirely. A few gulls pass overhead and the water laps against the pilings in a steady rhythm, the magnolia still lingering near the collar while the citrus continues to sparkle in small bursts against the warm wood
