Our take

Twentyone Black opens with a bright, almost fizzy burst of pineapple and orange, green notes cutting through like a blade of fresh grass. That initial sweetness carries a synthetic edge, but it’s cheerful enough to forgive. Very quickly, the African orange flower and lily of the valley stumble in, a white floral duo that feels more like a polite nod than a full embrace. The dry down settles into a generic coconut and musk base, light woods and amber barely warming the edges.

This is a sugar cube dissolving in iced tea, sweet and fleeting, gone before you’ve finished your sip. With sillage and longevity both hovering around a measly 2.6 out of 5, it barely whispers against the skin. You’ll get maybe an hour of coconuty fruit, then nothing but a faint ghost of lactonic vanilla. It feels entirely mainstream and synthetic, a cheerful drugstore impulse buy rather than anything crafted.

Is it possible to be nostalgic for a scent that barely registers? Twentyone Black suits a teenager on a summer afternoon, someone who wants a spritz of sweet pineapple before heading to the mall. Everyone else should skip it. Wear it to a poolside hangout where reapplication is easy, or on a hot day when you want a cool breeze of fruit and flower that disappears before the sun sets. It’s a lightweight, forgettable tropical daydream, and that’s exactly what it was designed to be.
