Our take

Tobacco and cinnamon open Qaaid with a warm, resinous heat. The cinnamon carries a dry bark texture rather than a sweet bakery tone, and the tobacco feels cured and slightly leathery. This opening is bold and immediate, setting a heavy oriental tone that does not ease up as the minutes pass.

The heart introduces ambergris and labdanum alongside a rum note. The rum adds a fermented, slightly boozy roundness that softens the spice, while labdanum brings a sticky, golden resin quality. Ambergris bridges the top and base with a salty, mineral warmth that keeps the composition from becoming purely sweet.

Cedar and oakmoss in the base provide a dry, forest-floor contrast to the rich resins. Incense coils through the lower half of the fragrance, adding a chapel-like gravity, while benzoin contributes a vanilla-adjacent sweetness that remains firmly in the background. The overall texture is thick and slightly powdery.

Qaaid suits a dimly lit room where wood smoke hangs in the air and conversation happens in low voices. It feels deliberate and composed, offering a traditional oriental profile built on amber and balsamic accords. The smoky tobacco lingers alongside the woody benzoin.
