Our take

La Coupe d'Or opens with a dusting of cinnamon laid over bright orange and peach. The red fruits add a tart edge that keeps the first impression from feeling heavy. Lily-of-the-valley brings a cool, powdery white floral tone that sits beside a soft rose. Sandalwood enters early and gives the heart a smooth, creamy woodiness that supports the flowers without dominating them.

The base gathers vanilla, amber, and musk into a warm, rounded finish. The sweetness is present but tempered by the cinnamon and the woody sandalwood that carry through from the earlier stages. The powdery accord remains noticeable to the end, giving the entire composition a vintage, slightly formal character. It feels suited to a room with dark wood furniture and a fire in the hearth, where the air is already warm and dry.

The fragrance stays firmly in the sweet and spicy lane and does not offer much contrast once the cinnamon settles. The musk and amber create a dense sweetness that can feel one-dimensional if you prefer airy or green compositions. The citrus from the opening fades into the background quickly, leaving the heavier notes to carry the entire experience.
