Rosso opens with a sharp bite of lime and pink pepper that cuts through the cool green snap of apple. Violet sits just beneath the surface, lending a powdery softness that keeps the citrus from feeling harsh. As the initial brightness settles, a damp patchouli enters alongside bergamot, creating a textured, slightly earthy foundation for the fruit. The heart reveals a creamy sandalwood and a resinous styrax that wrap around a pale rose, giving the center of the wear a smooth, slightly sticky floral character. Musk adds a clean, skin-like warmth that pulls the denser elements together without overwhelming the lighter top notes.
The base turns distinctly sweet and heavy, with peach and cassis pushing forward against a backdrop of amber and ylang-ylang. Lilac provides a fleeting freshness, but the fruity accord eventually dominates, leaning into a dense, candied profile that can feel cloying on warmer skin. The powdery accord grows stronger as the composition develops, eventually blurring the distinct edges of the individual florals. While the mix of citrus and resin is intriguing at first, the drydown lacks nuance and becomes a straightforward sugary wood that may simply be too heavy for those who prefer crisp, transparent finishes.
