Leopard 孟极
Fragrance notes
Character
A pink pepper and bergamot opening pricks the skin like cold air through a wool coat. It is bright but not juicy, a citrus that chose sharpness over refreshment. Yinora 如隐 places this at the start, then steps aside. The leopard reference in the name hints at something low to the ground and observant, and the scent moves that way, watching from the edges of a room rather than entering it. Ylang-ylang and freesia arrive next, but they do not announce themselves. The yellow floral accord here is a soft blur, a pollen-heavy warmth that smells like sunlight hitting a wooden floor. It is powdery in the way an old compact is powdery, not the way a bakery is. Shyamala Maisondieu composed it. The vanilla in the base is not a dessert. It is dry, almost dusty, walking alongside sandalwood and cedar that feel planed rather than polished. Moss pulls the sweetness back into the earth every time it threatens to climb. This is a vanilla that knows how to stand still. Wear it while walking through a park when the trees still have leaves but the wind has changed. The balsamic and warm spicy accords surface when the air cools, wrapping the wearer in something that feels more like a memory of heat than heat itself. There is a gap between the pepper and the vanilla where the scent almost disappears, then returns thicker, like a cat reappearing in a different doorway.
