Ambre Magnetic
Fragrance notes
Character
Ynepsie presents Ambre Magnetic as an oriental composition built around a resinous amber core. The opening brings bright bergamot and grapefruit together with cardamom, creating a citrus start that carries a clear spicy edge. This initial brightness does not stay sharp for long, as the heart quickly introduces amber and honey. Hedione adds a light floral quality that keeps the middle from feeling too heavy, while nutmeg reinforces the spice already introduced at the top. The transition feels steady rather than dramatic, moving from fresh and zesty to warm and rounded without losing the cardamom thread that runs through the structure.
The base settles into sandalwood and cedar, which give the amber a dry wooden foundation. Leather appears alongside tonka bean, adding a darker, slightly animalic character that deepens the overall mood. The sweetness from the honey and tonka remains present but is balanced by the drier woods and the subtle roughness of the leather. Powdery facets become more noticeable in this stage, sitting close to the skin and blending with the remaining spice. The fragrance feels suited to cool air and dim lighting, where the warmth of the amber and the weight of the base feel appropriate rather than overwhelming.
Composed by Irene Farmachidi and released in 2022, this unisex scent carries a distinct personality that leans toward traditional oriental materials handled with a modern floral lift. The cinnamon accord listed among the accords shows itself as a gentle heat rather than a literal spice note, supporting the amber without dominating it. The result is a fragrance that stays within a familiar family while allowing the hedione and citrus to keep the profile from becoming too dense or old-fashioned.
