Character
Guatemalan cardamom opens with a cool, resinous bite that feels like stepping into a stone courtyard after rain. Fig nectar follows with a thick, syrupy sweetness that clings to the air. Cashmere wood brings a soft, fuzzy texture to the center of the composition. Cognac adds a boozy, golden warmth that suggests a glass resting on a dark wooden table. Plum sits underneath, giving the heart a dark, jammy weight.
Sandalwood and Madagascar vanilla anchor the base with a creamy, edible richness. Ambergris lends a salty, mineral lift that keeps the sweetness from lying flat. Virginia cedar provides a dry, pencil-shaving sharpness that cuts through the heavy balsamic accords. The powdery facet dusts the entire structure, making the woody notes feel aged and settled.
Bertrand Duchaufour composed this 2024 release for Vivamor Parfums as a unisex oriental woody blend. The overall mood is a dimly lit library where the fire has just been stoked, the air thick with the scent of old paper, polished cedar shelves, and a spilled drop of vanilla liqueur drying near the hearth.
