Our take

Rich Man opens with a bright spray of mandarin orange and bergamot that feels clean and immediate. The citrus is sweet rather than sharp, giving the first few minutes a polished, groomed impression that suits a shirt-and-tie morning. It is pleasant and familiar, though it does not try to surprise anyone.

The heart settles into sandalwood, patchouli, and cedar. The wood here is smooth and slightly powdery, with the patchouli adding an earthy weight that keeps the citrus from floating away. It reads more aromatic than spicy, like a well-kept garden path rather than a dark forest floor.

The drydown is where the fragrance spends most of its time. Vetiver and vanilla lead, supported by a soft musk that rounds the edges. The vanilla is warm but restrained, and the vetiver adds a dry, rooty contrast that prevents the base from becoming too sweet. It feels like a wooden bench warming in the sun, steady and composed.

The limitation is the composition itself. The notes are pleasant but never develop beyond their obvious roles, so the scent stays predictable from start to finish. It is a safe choice that avoids risk, which means it also avoids character.
