Our take

Custo Barcelona opens with a sharp, almost aggressive burst of grapefruit and bitter orange, the kind of citrus that makes you pucker slightly before the Amalfi lemon and bergamot step in to soften the edges. Alberto Morillas clearly had a suntan in mind when he composed this. Within minutes, the black currant joins the orange blossom and peony, turning the composition into something juicier and more playful, like a fruit tart left in the sun. The base of patchouli, musk, and amber is clean and discreet, barely anchoring the bright top notes before they slip away. That is the fragrance’s main frustration: longevity clocks in at a middling 3.07 out of 5, and sillage barely reaches 2.84. You get a lovely two hours of presence, then it becomes a personal whisper. The overall character feels like a crushed handful of citrus rind and fresh peony petals on a warm marble countertop in a Barcelona courtyard, pretty but fleeting. It sits comfortably in the mainstream, neither synthetic nor natural, just bright and cheerful. This is a spring and summer daytime scent through and through, ideal for a brunch, a walk, or a casual office where you want to smell clean and inviting without commanding the room. Skip it if you demand projection or staying power. Wear it if you love a joyful, uncomplicated citrus floral that knows its place.
