Our take

Cafeina opens with a sticky burst of black currant and raspberry, their tart sweetness tangled up in a soapy rose that feels more synthetic than garden-fresh. Marigold adds a bitter edge, like grated orange zest over jam. The heart is where this fragrance gets confused: peony and peach try to smooth things out, but cyclamen brings a damp, almost metallic coolness that clashes with the fruity top. In the drydown, powdery musk and dry sandalwood take over, with patchouli lurking faintly in the background, less dirty earth and more dusty closet.

The overall character is a floral fruit salad left out in the sun too long, the juices starting to ferment. It’s sweet, but not gourmand. Powdery, but not cozy. The longevity is a disappointment at 3.13 out of 5, fading to a skin scent within three hours, and the sillage never rises above a polite whisper. This is a mainstream drugstore-style floral fruity via 2009, competent but uninspired. It suits someone who wants a cheery, low-commitment spritz for a spring afternoon at the mall, but anyone seeking depth, originality, or projection should pass. Wear it to a brunch where you won’t be hugging anyone, because by the time you’re paying the bill, you’ll be the only one who remembers you wore perfume at all.
