Underworld by Soivohle gathers vetiver, cloves, cinnamon, coffee, cacao, resins, lily, rose, leather, vanilla, and jasmine into a dense, resinous cloud. The cacao and coffee feel roasted and dark, while the cloves and cinnamon add a prickly heat that never turns sweet. Lily and jasmine sit quietly among the heavier materials, offering a pale floral lift that disappears quickly into the surrounding warmth. Rose adds a soft, powdery edge that keeps the spices from feeling too sharp. Vanilla is present but it stays in the background, more of a texture than a flavor. The leather is dry and clean, not the heavy motor-oil kind, and it pairs naturally with the vetiver’s earthy bite. Resins tie the whole composition together with a sticky, amber-like glow that feels handmade rather than polished.
The vanilla and resins eventually take over, wrapping the spices in a smooth, slightly powdery blanket that feels intimate and slow. Leather and vetiver linger underneath, giving the blend a rugged, forested floor feeling even as the florals fade completely. Cacao and coffee lose their edges and merge into a warm bitterness that resembles dark chocolate left out on a wooden table. Cinnamon and cloves remain as a faint tingling sensation rather than a bold statement. It suits a dimly lit room where wax has melted onto a bookshelf and someone is flipping through old paperbacks while rain taps the window.
