Our take

Farmhouse in Winter is a fragrance for the person who wants a holiday kitchen to follow them outdoors. The opening makes the case immediately. Balsam fir arrives with a cool, resinous edge, but vanilla steps in before the needle note can turn sharp. The two sit together in a way that feels intentional rather than decorative.

The heart strengthens that argument. Cookie and sugar join the mix, yet silverthorn keeps the blend from collapsing into a flat dessert. The air smells like a warm room whose door has been left open to a cold porch. Spice sits in the background, present enough to round out the sweetness without demanding attention.

Beeswax and gingerbread in the base give the composition its staying character. The wax adds a honeyed weight that grounds the fir, while the gingerbread note supplies a gentle cinnamon warmth. The result is aromatic and woody, with an animalic trace that keeps the sweetness from feeling entirely safe.

The limitation here is the name itself. Angela St. John composed a scent that leans so heavily on seasonal imagery that it resists year-round wear. The gourmand elements are rich, but they tie the fragrance to a specific setting. It is a careful, detailed portrait of one moment, and it cannot easily be worn outside of it.
