Eleonore
Fragrance notes
Character
Eleonore opens with a flash of Sicilian lemon and peach that is quickly swallowed by myrrh and hedione, a resinous, almost ecclesiastical sweetness that hangs in the air like incense in an empty cathedral. The heart is a clash of Tahitian vanilla and saffron, the leathery spice pulling the vanilla away from any dessert-like innocence and into something more brooding. On the dry down, patchouli and amber fuse with sandalwood and tonka, while a wisp of incense lingers like the ghost of a prayer.
This is a heavy, balsamic oriental that feels more niche than mainstream, though the execution leans synthetic in its base, a plasticky warmth that undermines the opulence. The sillage is modest, a polite cloud that stays close, and longevity barely pushes past four hours on my skin, which is a shame for a fragrance this dense. It’s best on a cool autumn evening, draped over a cashmere scarf, when you want to smell like the last ember of a fire in a library full of old books. Who should wear it? Someone who loves vanilla but wants it to growl, not purr. Who should skip it? Anyone expecting a gourmand or a bright spring floral; this is a winter woman, all shadow and slow exhale. The vote rating of 3.80 feels about right, a solid performer undone by its own restraint.
