Our take

The opening sniff of Rose de Rose is a straight, unapologetic shot of rose, not the dewy, crushed-petal kind but a polished, almost candied bloom. The top note sits alone for a surprising moment before the heart cascades in a rush of waxy tuberose, buttery ylang-ylang, and a jasmine that leans indolic. This is not a shy garden party. The whole middle act feels like a bouquet left too long in a warm room, lush and slightly heady, with the white florals wrestling the rose for dominance.

Then the base steps in with a vanilla that is thick and creamy, smoothed by sandalwood, and the entire composition settles into a powdery, sweet embrace. It is a single image: an antique vanity drawer lined with velvet, a dried rose sachet, a spilt bottle of vanilla extract. This fragrance is noticeably sweet and decidedly synthetic in the best sense of well-made perfumery. It is not naturalistic; it is an amplified, hyperreal floral that feels more niche in intent than mainstream in execution, though the 3.89 longevity and 3.63 sillage are respectable but not beastly. It will cling to a scarf all day.

Who wears it? The person who wants a rose that smiles, not broods. Spring and fall are its home, especially daytime, though the warmth lets it work into winter evenings. Skip it if you prefer green, stemmy roses or crisp citrus openings. The only real weakness is monotony: once it lands on that vanillic sandalwood base, it stays there, a little too content, like a guest who will not take the hint to leave.
