Our take

An.na by Carlo Dali opens with a fruity rush that feels slightly synthetic, as the pomegranate and persimmon lack the realistic tartness found in more expensive compositions. The initial spray delivers a candy-like sweetness that can feel a bit loud and unrefined before the floral heart takes over. Once the champaca, black orchid, and lotus emerge, the scent settles into a dense, powdery floral bouquet. The black violet in the base adds a dark, slightly dusty edge to the amber and mahogany, creating a woody finish that feels heavy for daily wear. The transition from the bright top notes to the deep base is not perfectly seamless, leaving a gap where the fragrance feels disjointed rather than fluid.

The powdery accord becomes quite pronounced as the scent develops, which may overwhelm those who prefer clean or fresh profiles. While the woody elements provide a solid foundation, the sweetness never fully recedes, resulting in a composition that stays firmly in gourmand territory. It suits a crisp morning walk through damp leaves or a quiet evening indoors when the air feels cool against the window. The fragrance feels most at home in a wardrobe meant for cooler days when the air has a bite to it. However, the synthetic edge in the opening and the aggressive powderiness in the dry down remain the weakest points of this specific release.
