Courage & Desire presents a dense mix of Haitian vetiver, oak, and pine that grounds the brighter spark of bitter orange and pear. The vermouth note adds a slightly bitter, botanical edge that keeps the sweeter elements from dominating the early impression.
Tonka bean, vanilla, and amber accords create a thick, resinous texture that feels more suited to cool air than to high heat. Myrrh and musk deepen the balsamic character, while juniper offers a crisp contrast that prevents the composition from feeling completely heavy. The Dua Brand released this in 2023 as an oriental fragrance that leans into its warm spicy accords with confidence. It smells synthetic in moments where the vanilla and amber overlap too heavily, creating a slightly plastic edge beneath the natural woods. That artificial sheen is the limitation here, as it distracts from the otherwise interesting blend of botanicals and resin.
