Pi leans hard into anise and almond, giving it a nutty, faintly liquorice sweetness that sits closer to marzipan than to anything else in Givenchy's men's line. That resemblance is the fragrance's biggest risk: built by Alberto Morillas and released in 1998, it plays such a narrow, sweet register that anyone who doesn't care for the smell of almond paste will struggle to get past the opening.
Vanilla and amber carry the warmth through the middle and into the base, and warm spicy and fresh spicy accords add texture underneath, while a fruity edge brings a touch of brightness without turning the whole thing citrusy. Aromatic touches give it some lift, but anise and almond stay the dominant idea from start to finish, more a study in one flavor than a composition that moves through distinct stages. Worn on its own terms, it works best for someone drawn to sweet, nutty orientals who won't mind wearing something built around a single idea, and it comes across more mature than trendy now, closer to a spiced liqueur than a modern fougere.
