Our take

Does a perfume this green and animalic still know how to be pretty. Neil Morris Swoon opens with a crisp orange that feels more like sunlight than fruit juice, then immediately hands the floor to a tangle of white florals and crushed tomato leaf. Honeysuckle and jasmine sambac give it a lush, nectar-heavy heart, but the peony and narcissus keep it from turning fully heady, while black tea adds a dry, slightly bitter edge that keeps the sweetness in check. It smells like a garden in full bloom right after a rain, where the soil is damp and something wild is hiding under the flowerbeds.

That wildness comes from the base, which leans hard into the chypre tradition. Civet and oakmoss bring a distinctly musky, almost primal weight that will feel polarizing if you usually reach for clean skin scents, and the oud here is earthy rather than smoky. Patchouli anchors the whole composition with a dark, powdery finish that feels more vintage than modern. This is not a transparent, easy-to-wear floral; it has teeth, and it knows how to use them.

Swoon is for the person who wants a green floral that refuses to be tamed, and who appreciates a bit of grit with their petals. Wear it when you want to feel put together but unpredictable, especially on a cool evening where its mossy, animalic dry down can really breathe.
