Our take

Le Bois de Boulogne opens with a busy, bright rush of citrus and fruit that immediately intersects with the sharp bite of bay leaf, thyme, and Sichuan pepper. The gunpowder note adds a faint, mineral spark to the juicy mix of pineapple, green apple, plum, and melon, while aldehydes give the whole opening a clean, slightly effervescent lift. Neroli and coriander weave through the top layer, keeping the fruit from leaning too heavy and steering the scent toward something crisp and upright. As the fragrance moves forward, rum and nutmeg warm the center, joined by rose, iris, and violet leaf. Frankincense and ylang-ylang deepen the heart, while jasmine and lily-of-the-valley provide a soft, floral counterpoint to the spices. The transition feels layered rather than linear, with the fruit slowly receding as the resins and florals take more space.

The base settles into a dense, woody foundation of leather, oakmoss, sandalwood, and teak wood, supported by patchouli, vetiver, cedar, and oud. Musk, amber, vanilla, labdanum, styrax, and a touch of powder round out the drydown, creating a finish that is earthy, sweet, and resinous all at once. The accord list paints a clear picture of its character: woody, fresh spicy, aromatic, amber, warm spicy, powdery, earthy, sweet, fruity, and citrus. It suits a bright, clear morning in a city where the air feels cool but the sun is fully out, the kind of day that invites a coat thrown over a light shirt and a walk through streets lined with bare trees and damp pavement.
