Our take

Iron Duke opens with a sharp, almost metallic blast of gunpowder, a dry and acrid smoke that lingers before the leather and rum step in to warm things up. The leather here is dark and animalic, not the polished kind you find in a department store, and the tobacco arrives like old leaves left to cure in a damp cellar. As it dries down, the sweetness from the rum softens the edges, but never fully tames them. The overall character is that of a worn leather jacket left overnight in a basement speakeasy, stained with spilled spirits and the faint ghost of a spent match. This is unabashedly niche, a heavy and synthetic-leaning composition that wears close to the skin despite its bold intentions, which is both its strength and its limitation. The longevity holds steady for a workday, but the sillage stays respectful, never shouting. Who is this for? The person who wants to smell like they just stepped out of a historical reenactment of a naval blockade, preferably in autumn or winter and definitely after dark. If you prefer bright citrus or clean laundry scents, skip this. But if you want a moody, boozy leather that feels like an artifact rather than a fragrance, Iron Duke delivers a specific, brooding story worth telling.
