Pursuit opens with a sharp sting that some will find abrasive. The tea and grape combination, dusted with rosemary and cardamom, creates a medicinal edge that takes a few minutes to settle. This is not a smooth, easygoing entrance. The apricot tries to soften the blow, but the initial spray feels prickly and bold rather than welcoming.
Once the heart unfolds, the composition shifts into a dense, spicy floral. Tuberose and ylang-ylang dominate, supported by violet and heliotrope, while honey adds a thick sweetness. Cinnamon and clove bring heat, and galbanum injects a green, bitter counterpoint. The accord feels heavy and opulent, sitting close to the skin with a distinct earthy texture. It carries a mood suited to a dimly lit study where woodsmoke lingers in the air and a heavy wool coat rests on a chair.
The base reveals mahogany, leather, and oakmoss, grounded by civet and amber. Labdanum and benzoin provide a resinous warmth that feels dry rather than sugary. Tonka bean rounds out the edges, but the overall impression remains dark and traditional. This is a scent for a man who walks through wet leaves on cobblestones, leaving a trail that smells like old books and burning embers.
