The opening is a cool green bite. Black currant blossom and spearmint lead with a crisp, slightly tart energy that feels awake and alert. It is a fresh start that moves quickly, giving way to the heart without lingering too long on the surface.
Rose and water lily bring a soft, watery floral layer that sits comfortably against the cinnamon. The spice is gentle here, more of a warm whisper than a sharp heat. It keeps the florals from feeling too delicate, adding a little depth to the middle.
The drydown is where Chronicle settles into its true character. Leather and amber take hold, supported by vanilla, benzoin, and ambrette. The leather is smooth and slightly animalic, blending with the resinous amber to create a warm, textured base. It feels grounded and rich, moving away from the bright start entirely.
This is a daytime companion for someone who likes a floral that turns into something heavier and more rugged. The transition from fresh mint to deep leather is dramatic. The one limitation is the cinnamon, which can read as a little flat and artificial against the natural feel of the ambrette and benzoin.
