Sienne l´Hiver
Fragrance notes
Character
It opens with a bruised green snap, fern and violet leaf crushed together like handfuls of damp undergrowth, geranium adding an herbal sting that clears the sinuses. The heart deepens into something more peculiar: truffle’s earthy funk twined with iris’s cool, powdery root, while olibanum threads a faint churchy smoke through the green. Then the drydown settles into hay warmed by labdanum, the guaiac wood lending a smoldering, almost charred base. The overall impression is of a crumbling stone wall in late autumn, moss and wet leaves clinging to it, a single mushroom pushing through the cracks, and a cold stream running somewhere just out of sight. It feels thoroughly natural, unmistakably niche, and more atmospheric than flattering.
The sillage is a whisper (2.67) and longevity hovers around three or four hours (3.04), which means this fragrance asks you to enjoy it for yourself, not for the room. It suits the contrarian who prefers dirt to dazzle, who wants to smell like a walk in the woods rather than a night out. Skip it if you crave projection or sweet amber comfort. Wear it on a damp fall afternoon when the air has that particular mineral chill, or on a grey winter morning when the ground is too frozen to release its scent. This is perfume as quiet observation, not declaration.
