Our take

Eau de Giorgio opens with a bright citrus snap of bergamot and orange blossom, like someone biting into a candied peel. That initial sparkle quickly yields to a dense white floral heart, tuberose and gardenia muscling in with a fleshy, almost tropical humidity, while jasmine and ylang-ylang add a custardy sweetness. The drydown turns woody and warm, sandalwood and patchouli threading through the flowers, and a faint animalic undertow suggests something that has been worn, not just sprayed. It feels like a gardenia corsage pinned to a linen blazer that has been lightly dusted with cocoa powder, the sugar settling into the weave.

The fragrance is undeniably synthetic, a glossy mainstream interpretation of an old-school white floral bomb, and it wears heavy rather than fresh. Longevity is decent enough at three and a half stars, but the sillage clings close after the first hour, a polite echo of the initial roar. It suits someone who wants to feel polished and unapologetically feminine, perhaps a woman in her forties heading to a spring brunch or an September garden party. Skip it if you prefer sheer whispers or dislike tuberose’s narcotic edge. Wear it on a sunny afternoon when you want to smell like you spent the day in a florist’s shop, sleeves rolled up, hands stained with pollen.
