Our take

Giorgio doesn't ease in. Tuberose, gardenia, jasmine and orchid arrive together at the start, backed by orange blossom, apricot and peach, like a florist's cooler stocked past capacity, flowers spilling over each other for space. Francis Camail built this as a maximalist white floral, and it wears that way: dense, a little indolic, with a creamy, milky quality from the lactonic accord that rounds off the sharper edges of the white flowers.

Underneath, oakmoss and patchouli add a mossy, almost bitter backbone, while vanilla, amber and musk push the drydown into something warmer and distinctly animalic, less about the flowers by this point than the skin beneath them. It has real endurance, clinging to skin and fabric alike, and the scent announces its presence, easily picked up by anyone close by, so this is not a fragrance for shrinking into a corner.

It works across the calendar, holding its intensity whether the air is cold or warm. Giorgio suits anyone who wants an old-school white floral at full volume, unapologetic about its size and its history, worn with the confidence the composition demands.
