Our take

Babe Power opens with a syrupy fistful of sour cherry and rhubarb, the kind of tart fruit that makes your jaw clench, but the pineapple and pink pepper soften that edge into something almost fizzy. It’s a glittery, synthetic burst, very much a mall fragrance from 2017, and it wears that cheap energy on its sleeve. The heart brings orange blossom and jasmine, but they’re gauzed over by a peony that feels powdery and indistinct, like sugar dust on a department store counter. The dry down is where this settles into its real business: cotton candy and vanilla with a musky amber base, turning the whole thing into a warm, fluffy cloud that sits close to the skin. If this were a single image, it’s a pink velvet scrunchie on a teenage girl’s wrist at a fall carnival, sticky from caramel apples and already starting to fray.

The longevity is weak, two and a half hours before it becomes a whisper, and the sillage is just as modest. That’s the real disappointment for a scent called Babe Power — the name promises a roar, but the delivery is a polite cough. It feels sweet, powdery, and unapologetically mainstream, not trying to be anything but a pleasant fruity floral for someone who wants to smell like a candy shop without offending anyone. It suits a young woman in her late teens or early twenties, someone heading to a daytime hangout or a casual first date in spring or fall. Skip it if you crave projection or complexity; this one evaporates before the conversation gets interesting. Why settle for a sugar cube when you could reach for the whole bag?
