Our take

It opens with a bright, almost jarring burst of mandarin and cardamom, the citrus sharpened by nutmeg’s woody heat. That initial pop feels like stepping from a cold airport into a Moroccan medina where a spice merchant is dusting his wares. Within minutes, the heart settles into a resinous amber glow, myrrh and labdanum softening the edges, olibanum adding a faint ecclesiastical smoke. The drydown is where the name earns its keep: agarwood emerges not as a barnyard assault but as a clean, almost polished oud, wrapped in benzoin’s vanilla-like sweetness and styrax’s leathery lacquer. Opoponax lends a sticky, honeyed depth that keeps the whole thing from floating away.

This is a surprisingly wearable oud, leaning more toward an aromatic, balmy amber than a skanky, confrontational one. The longevity is a modest three and a half hours on skin, and the sillage sits politely close, a whisper rather than a shout. That restraint is both its charm and its weakness: it feels too polite for the promise of “intense.” It suits someone who wants a touch of the exotic without alarming their cubicle neighbors, a spring or summer evening scent that works fine for dinner but never for a night designed to be remembered. Skip it if you want your oud to roar or if you need eight hours of projection. This is a well-mannered guest, not a gatecrasher.
