Character
The apricot here is not the problem, but it does not get to lead for long. It arrives bright and a little creamy, the kind of fruit note that feels more like skin than candy, yet it steps aside almost immediately as the osmanthus begins to bloom. That floral heart carries a soft, lactonic warmth that tries to keep the opening friendly, though the welcome does not last. The air shifts quickly once the base makes its move, and the gentle fruit is soon surrounded by something much darker.
Smoke curls from a small fire built near the edge of a stone patio, the kind of evening where the air bites and everyone has pulled their coat a little tighter. Birch lends a sharp, dry charcoal edge to the leather, which smells like well worn gloves rather than a new jacket, and the incense drifts through the scene in thin ribbons. Styrax adds a thick, amber colored weight that sticks to the air, animalic and balsamic, turning the whole space into a room with no walls. The osmanthus lingers just enough to remind you that something sweet was here first, now half buried under resin and ash.
A few people near the fire glance around when the wind changes, catching the leather and the smoke as they settle into the wool of a sleeve, the fruit long gone but still faintly present in the warmth of the skin underneath the fabric, mixing with the cold air that keeps pushing through the courtyard while the embers pop and the night deepens around the group
