Faux Flora No. 4
Fragrance notes
The door to the wooden cabin swings open and a rush of cold air follows you inside. Pine needles cling to the sleeves of a wool coat, still damp from the short walk through the forest path. As the fire in the stove crackles, the air begins to shift. Frankincense curls upward with the smoke, mixing with the sharp green scent of cypress that hangs near the rafters. The room feels dense with the aroma of the trees outside, brought in on boots and breath, settling into the floorboards.
Warmth builds near the hearth as sandalwood and cedar begin to rise from the space where the rug meets the stone. Cashmeran adds a smooth, synthetic softness that blurs the edges of the sharper resins. Amber and musk sit low in the room, wrapping around the legs of the heavy furniture. The powdery quality of the air reminds you of dried herbs hanging from the kitchen beams, crushed slightly every time someone passes by. It is a dry, aromatic heat that feels carved from the walls themselves.
Resins continue to melt into the atmosphere, making the boundary between the structure and the surrounding woods feel thin. The scent is woody and spicy, a cloud that does not move toward a conclusion but simply occupies the space between the window glass and the flickering light. You reach out to warm your hands, inhaling the mixture of smoke and sap that defines the entire evening, lost in the way the amber catches the glow
