Character
A low table sits in a quiet room where the air is cool and the windows are fogged with breath. A glass of dark spirit rests near a brass lighter and a folded scarf. The first impression is a rush of rum, thick and sweet, curling upward like steam from a warm drink. It carries a golden weight that feels immediate and comforting. Just behind it, white flowers drift through the sweetness, soft and slightly powdery, like fabric caught in a draft. The flowers do not brighten the room so much as they deepen it, adding a gentle, creamy texture to the opening.
The wood arrives slowly, a blend of akigalawood and cedar that feels dry and rectangular against the earlier roundness. Oud sits at the center of that wood, earthy and resinous, with a dark presence that does not overwhelm but simply occupies the space. Patchouli threads through the base, giving the wood a faintly dusty, green edge that keeps the sweetness from feeling flat. The composition feels composed, each element holding its place while the air grows heavier and more aromatic with every passing minute.
The scarf absorbs the scent, the wood settling into the fibers while the rum lingers near the collar. There is a sense of being enclosed, the outside world reduced to the sound of a closing door and the faint creak of floorboards underfoot, the air thick with warm spice and cured wood, the kind of evening where the glass is never quite empty and the room seems to hold its breath while the oud continues to unfold against the cedar
