Our take

Mur Mur Noir opens with a candied orange so sticky it nearly glues your nostrils shut, while a black licorice whip cracks through the lilac’s powdery haze. The heart then swings tropical with a mango-gardenia combo that smells like a fruit salad dropped into a funeral parlor full of ylang ylang. Underneath, the base is where Faberlic finally commits: vanilla and dark chocolate stirred into a lukewarm tiramisu, leaning heavily into the “oriental vanilla” tag. The overall character is a department store dessert case with a gothic lace doily underneath, sweet enough to coat your teeth but not quite decadent enough to justify the noir name.

Given its sillage of 2.64 and longevity of 3.12 out of five, this is a whisper more than a shout. It fades to a skin-level cocoa-vanilla within two or three hours, so plan on reapplying if you want company to notice. The blend feels mainstream synthetic in the top notes but smooths into a passably cozy gourmand on the drydown, no rough edges but no surprises either.

Wear this on a cold winter afternoon when you want a gentle hug of sweetness without announcing your presence from across the room. Skip it if you crave projection or complexity, or if candied fruit turns cloying on your skin. It suits someone who loves dessert scents but doesn’t want to smell like a bakery explosion, more like a quiet tiramisu break by a frosty window. A decent budget pick, not a masterpiece, but not a disaster either.
