Our take

D. D. AND E. opens with a bright, citrus-led accord where tangerine and neroli provide a sunny, slightly bitter introduction. This initial sharpness is quickly softened by the inclusion of mimosa, which adds a pollen-like, yellow floral dustiness to the top layer. As the fragrance moves into its heart, the green, apricot-like quality of osmanthus merges with the dry, root-like texture of orris. This transition keeps the composition from becoming too sweet too early, maintaining a crisp, botanical feel that feels appropriate for warm, sunlit environments.

The base of D. D. AND E. is a complex, multi-layered bouquet that leans heavily into white florals. Frangipani and tuberose provide a creamy, heady weight, while the addition of rose and green tea adds a slightly metallic, vegetal edge. Black elder contributes a dark, berry-like fruitiness that grounds the lighter notes. The overall impression is a powdery, sweet floral that retains a green, slightly sharp undertone throughout. However, the synthetic edge of the citrus in the opening can feel somewhat disconnected from the natural, heavy floral dry down, creating a disjointed experience where the contrasting elements never quite settle into a cohesive whole.
