Character
Hiyam opens with a sharp, herbal mix of absinthe, anise and fennel. The three share a cool, slightly medicinal bite that feels dry and clean rather than sweet. This opening is brisk and direct, giving the fragrance an immediate aromatic character that leans green and bitter before anything else appears.
Lavender enters next and softens the edge without removing it. The flower sits beside a leather note that is smooth and restrained, adding a faintly textured feel to the heart. Vanilla, musk and amber form the base, where the vanilla brings a gentle warmth and the musk and amber create a powdery, rounded finish that stays close to the skin.
The anise and fennel remain noticeable well into the drydown, which keeps the profile from ever becoming fully soft or cozy. Hiyam stays firmly on the bitter, aromatic side of the spectrum throughout. The leather is present but never dominant, and the vanilla does not take over. People who prefer a fragrance where the sweet elements are kept to a minimum will find this balanced. Those who expect a rich, heavy leather or a deep vanilla gourmand will find the composition too thin and herbal for their taste.
