Our take

Black currant and pineapple open Christina Aguilera's self-titled fragrance like a fruit stand in July, tangerine adding a sharper citrus note on top. It settles fast into plum and peony, with jasmine threaded through for a slightly greener lift, and the fruit never fully disappears, it just gets quieter as the floral heart takes the lead. Released in 2007, it belongs to that era's taste for loud, candy-bright fruit married to something softer underneath, and it commits to both halves of that idea rather than picking one.

Vanilla, white musk and amber close it out, turning the whole thing powdery and warm by the time it settles. By the base, it has turned into something private, caught mostly on your own wrist, not the kind that travels with you into a room. Staying power lands in ordinary territory, distinct on first application and much softer beyond that, faded to almost nothing by the time you would think to check. White musk in particular keeps the drydown soft, more comfortable than distinctive, easy to wear without asking for much attention. It suits anyone who liked the sweeter, fruitier florals of the mid-2000s and never grew out of them.
