Our take

FIK opens with a bright spray of bergamot that immediately meets the heat of Nigerian ginger, black pepper, and Guatemalan cardamom. The spices are sharp and immediate, giving the entrance a lively, slightly prickly character that feels awake and alert. As the fragrance moves forward, myrtle, African geranium, and rosemary take over with a green, herbal dryness that cools the initial heat without losing the energy. The geranium adds a faint floral lift that keeps the heart from becoming too medicinal, while rosemary reinforces the clean, aromatic tone. This central phase is steady and composed, leaning into the fresh spicy and aromatic accords that define much of the wear.

The base brings vanilla and tonka bean together with Haitian vetiver and amberwood. The vanilla and tonka provide a smooth, sweet foundation, but the vetiver adds an earthy, woody edge that prevents the sweetness from dominating. Amberwood rounds out the drydown with a warm, resinous texture that sits close to the skin. The overall impression is a polished blend of spice, herb, and wood that fits a crisp morning walk or a bright afternoon outdoors. The composition is cohesive and well balanced across its notes. The one drawback is that the ginger and cardamom can feel slightly synthetic compared to the natural impression of the herbs and vetiver.
