Character
gs02 opens like a bitter apology from a bartender who’s been up all night. Campari’s cherry-tinged bitterness hits first, snarling with wormwood and a green, almost medicinal thrust from angelica and thyme. The orange is there but it’s a bruised rind, not a sunrise. That top is sharp, aromatic, and stubbornly synthetic in a way that feels intentional, like a neon sign flickering on a rainy street. Then the leather and castoreum crawl in, not smooth or polished but raw, saddle-stitched and slightly sweaty. It’s the smell of a biker’s jacket left in a dive bar after a long argument. The amber and tonka eventually soften the edges, but the vanilla stays dusty, never dessert. This is not a crowd-pleaser. The longevity and sillage both land around moderate, which actually suits its character: you get close to smell it, or it fades into a ghost on your skin. Who should wear this? Someone who enjoys being a little difficult, who wants a scent that smells more like a place than a person. Who should skip? Anyone hoping for a cozy leather or a clean aromatic. It’s best in fall, when the air has its own bite, and strictly for daytime, because at night its bitterness feels redundant. One question lingers: do you want to smell intriguing, or just like you forgot to shower after a long shift? This fragrance answers that question with a shrug and a wink.
