The door swings open and a wall of cold air rushes in, cut immediately by the heavy warmth of a room lit only by a low fire. Someone is standing near the window with a glass in hand, wearing Tobacco Rose by Butterfly Thai Perfume. The opening is a thick, dewy Bulgarian rose that feels almost syrup-heavy, twisted through with the creamy, exotic lift of white champaca. It smells like flowers that have been left in a heated greenhouse, petals damp and dark, refusing to wilt.
Pine enters next, sharp and resinous, threading through sandalwood and the unusual, starchy softness of bread flower. Pandanus adds a green, slightly nutty humidity that keeps the florals from floating away. The room feels packed with scent, the kind of air that coats the back of the throat. There is a sacred weight here, the smoke of frankincense curling near the ceiling, mingling with the golden, medicinal heat of saffron.
The base settles into a deep, animalic earth. Tobacco is rich and cured, wrapped around the dark, tarry presence of oud and the vanilla-adjacent glow of benzoin. Civet adds a musky, undeniable skin warmth that makes the whole composition feel alive and slightly untamed. It is sweet but dry, balsamic but sharp, a blend of wood and spice that feels rooted in the floorboards. The amber accord hums beneath the surface, pulling the rose back into the shadows where it belongs.
Pandan leaf lingers at the edges, herbal and fresh against the heavy resins, while the tobacco continues to exhale its warm, dried-leaf scent into the quiet space. The fire pops once, sending a drift of ash upward, and the air grows denser with frankincense and rose, the two notes braided so tightly they no longer feel like separate ingredients, just a single, breathing wall of scent that fills the corner by the window
