Our take

A dimly lit cellar in late autumn holds a heavy wooden table where a glass of red wine sits beside a snifter of whiskey. The Red Wedding lives in that room. It opens with the boozy depth of rum and beer, softened by dried fruits and a sharp prunol edge that smells like crushed grape skins. Plum liquor soon rises, thick and syrupy, carrying three distinct roses that feel velvety rather than fresh. Apricot and peach add a golden weight, while osmanthus pulls the fruit toward something leathery. The scent occupies the space around you, filling the air near your shoulders without overwhelming the room. Oak and two varieties of oud anchor the blend, their resinous smoke wrapping around amber that glows like candlelight on wood.

Blood in the base is a metallic thread, faint but unmistakable, turning the sweetness slightly clinical. Composed by Zackaria Ibn Hossain, this 2024 release holds its dense, fruit-heavy character for a prolonged stretch, refusing to thin out as the evening deepens. It suits a wearer who enjoys standing in a bold, boozy cloud that draws attention. The metallic note may unsettle those who prefer their fruity fragrances to stay clean and purely edible, as it introduces a sharp, coppery sting that never fully dissolves into the warm woods.
