Our take

Amalfi lemon opens with a bright, sunlit citrus that feels squeezed straight onto warm skin. Ginger adds a sharp, clean heat that keeps the opening from leaning too sweet. Cardamom brings a green, slightly medicinal edge that sits close to the lemon without overwhelming it. Cedar appears early here, dry and pencil-sharp, grounding the spice before the heart even begins.

Gin and juniper form a crisp, botanical heart that smells like a garden patio in full sun. Red berries add a tart, translucent fruitiness that avoids candy tones. The mixture stays airy and upright, never heavy or syrupy. There is a sense of clear air moving through the composition, keeping each element distinct and uncluttered.

Old furniture is the note that defines the base, and it smells exactly like a description. It is a dry, dusty wood scent with a faint varnish tang, like an antique chest opened in a bright room. Cedar returns here, smoother now and more resinous than it was at the start. The wood dominates completely, leaving the earlier citrus far behind.

The overall impression is aromatic and woody, with a fresh spicy thread running through the entire wear. It feels composed by Karine Vinchon Spehner to highlight contrast rather than blend. Citrus and herbal tones meet a very specific, dry wood accord that refuses to soften.
