Scent of Fail

Character
A velvet collar is turned up against a damp evening breeze as someone steps beneath the arch of a courtyard gate. Citrus brightens the air for a moment, sharp and brief, before the flowers take hold. Narcissus and jasmine rise together, heavy and yellow, their petals damp with cold. The scene feels lived in, like a garden that has been walked through many times after sunset.
Oakmoss settles into the fabric of the coat and the stone around the feet. The green turns darker, woodier, touched with an earthy animalic warmth that does not beg for attention. It is a chypre built for close quarters, where the air is cool and the light is low. Fruity hints drift through the white floral heart, softening the edges without losing the structure.
The moss clings to the shadows near the ground while the jasmine lingers near the throat, and the narcissus carries a faint weight that makes the air feel thicker here than it did on the street outside.
