Our take

Pop Glam Electric Yellow is a bright, brash little number from 2008, the olfactory equivalent of a single neon jelly bean dropped on hot pavement. It opens with a squeaky clean burst of citrus and black currant, all fizzy and synthetic in the way that only early aughts fruity florals could be. A peppery prickle cuts through the red currant and lily of the valley in the heart, giving it a brief moment of tension before the whole thing collapses into a sticky sweet raspberry vanilla jam. The nose behind it, Philippe Roques, clearly aimed for the teenage locker room crowd, and he nailed it.

This is not a scent that lingers. Longevity barely clears two hours, and sillage is a whisper at arm’s length, which is almost a mercy because the sweetness borders on cloying if applied with a heavy hand. Its overall character is a melted lollipop smeared on a hot car dashboard in July. You wear it for the burst, the brief flash of candy coated euphoria, and then it evaporates. It’s unapologetically synthetic and mainstream, a sugar rush with no memory.

Who should wear it? Anyone who wants to smell like the happiest five minutes of a summer festival without committing to the rest of the day. Skip it if you crave depth, longevity, or any hint of naturalism. Wear it to a sunny afternoon picnic, a brunch with friends, or a morning commute when you need a cheap dopamine hit. Just reapply every two hours. Or don’t.
