Our take

Mirage opens with a bright but brief citrus flash, elemi and orange quickly giving way to a heart that feels both green and velvety. The vetiver here is soft, almost fuzzy, threading through rose and jasmine without letting them become too heady. What emerges is a powdery warmth, sandalwood and vanilla smoothed into amber, with a faint resinous echo that suggests fir trees in the distance. The whole thing settles like a cashmere shawl embroidered with dried rose petals, comfortable and slightly melancholic.

Its character leans quietly mainstream, with a synthetic smoothness that makes it inoffensive but not dull. The longevity is respectable at just under four hours, and the sillage hovers close, a gentle haze rather than a declaration. You will not fill a room, but you will leave a soft trace. This is a fragrance for cold months when the air is dry and you want something that stays warm against your skin. It suits someone who prefers subtlety over spectacle, perhaps a woman who gravitates toward amber vanillas and powdery florals but finds most too syrupy. Those who crave sharp citrus or loud projection should look elsewhere. Wear it for a quiet evening at home or a winter lunch, not for a night out where you need to compete.

One small weakness: the opening citrus feels slightly synthetic and fleeting, gone before it can truly settle in. But if you give it ten minutes, the dry down rewards patience with that soft, balsamic hush. Is that not the point of a mirage, after all, something that shimmers and then settles into a different truth?
